Basics to get you started
Chicken tending can be very rewarding and every spring, stores have those irresistably cute, fluffy chicks in the tubs for you to take home!
But how much of a commitment are these outside birds? What all do they need to have a happy life?
These cute chickens eventually supply you with your morning eggs, but when do you get those?
It is important to note that these chicks will not stay these cute, fluffy chicks for long! They can actually live for several years. Unfortunately, they are prone to sickness, predators, and heart issues. There is a chance one or more of your group of chicks may be a cockerel (young rooster). However, if you have the patience, you will find that these feathery beings can be peaceful and offer you eggs and entertainment. Also important to remember, they do learn routines, up to 100 faces, and with enough positive reinforcement, can learn tricks!
